Operate: Incidents

Run the full incident lifecycle from report through investigation to resolution.

A WHS manager in her late 30s sitting on the edge of a desk in a bright, open office, in relaxed conversation with two workers who have stopped by — one leaning against a doorframe, the other perched on a nearby chair. The conversation is informal and genuine: she is listening with full attention, one hand gesturing lightly as she responds. No laptop is open. No phone is visible. She is fully present with the people in front of her, not at a screen. The scene captures the feeling of capacity returned.

This module shows you how incident management works in ReFresh, from the moment a report lands to the moment the incident is closed. By the end, you'll know how to triage incoming reports, deploy shareable reporting channels, configure handler groups with SLAs and escalation, open and run investigations, resolve incidents, manage regulatory deadlines for notifiable events, and understand what your workers see when they report through the portal.

Incident management is where your safety programme meets real events. Done well, it's the trail that holds up under audit, in court, and in front of a board. Done badly, it's a liability. This module gives you the structure to do it well.

What you'll learn:

  • How to triage incoming incident reports and route them to the right team

  • How to deploy shareable reporting links and QR codes for multi-channel reporting

  • How to set up incident handler groups with SLAs and escalation rules

  • How to open, manage, and close investigations

  • How to collect statements and manage the people involved in an investigation

  • How to resolve and close out incidents

  • How to manage notifiable incidents and meet regulatory deadlines

  • What workers see when they report through My ReFresh

Is this module for you?

If you're a WHS lead, HSE manager, or anyone responsible for handling workplace incidents in your organisation, this module is for you. It assumes you've completed the Frameworks module and have your group hierarchy set up.

This is one of the longest modules in the Operate course because incident handling has the most legal and procedural weight. Take it in two or three sittings if you need to.
